SHAKESPEARE—JUST FOR FUN

Ever find Shakespeare's “Old English” incomprehensible?  Contrary to popular belief, Shakespeare's plays are very understandable, entertaining, and timeless in their themes.  In this class we’ll read, discuss, and watch a movie version of one of Shakespeare's most popular plays—Hamlet (sometimes known as the crazy Dane).  The Movie will be shown at the Victory Theatre.

SPINNING WOOL                

Instructor: Anita Edsall

Come join in the fun and spin with us.  If you can already spin, bring your spindle or wheel.  I find spinning with a group gets me in the mood and gives me the opportunity to learn from others.

For the novice spinners, a drop spindle kit will be available for you to make your own spindle and learn to spin on it.  The cost of the kit is $5.00, the wool will be included.

 

Class will be limited to 6 novice spinners.  Youth 6-10 who wish to participate must be accompanied by an adult.  Any number of experienced spinners may join us.

LEARN TO KNIT                                                    

Instructor: Anita Edsall

Come meet with us for a few evenings of fun and learn to knit your own scarves.  When you make your own scarf, it can be your colors, your length, your width, and out of any kind of yarn you want to use.  Once you can knit, you can make matching hats, mittens, sweaters and socks...when ever you're in the mood.

You Will Need:  1) 4oz skein of 4ply yarn-black is hard to see the stitch so the brighter the better.  2)  1 pr. single pointed knitting needles size 7, 8 or 9.  3) Yourself and your willingness to try it. 

Any age 6 and up welcome, 6-10 year-olds should be accompanied by an adult.

There will be other projects, for those who have the basics down.

Concealed Weapons Permit Handgun Safety

Instructor:  John Stetzenbach

This handgun safety class is designed to satisfy the re-quirements mandated by the state for issuance of a concealed weapons permit.  Topics to be covered include: handgun safety, selecting proper equipment and proper use of force, laws relating to handguns and state concealed weapon permit requirements.  Upon completion of this course you will receive a certificate that will fulfill one of the requirements to get your concealed weapons permit.

      Do not let a lack of skills prevent you from beginning a new job, from getting promoted, or from entering a college or technical training program.  The Adult Learning Center invites you to check out the instruction available through our office, located in the Kemmerer Outreach Office building.

      Under the direction of Anita Edsall, assistance is available to help you improve your skills, whether you want to earn a GED, pass the COMPASS test, learn to speak or write English better, or become a U.S. citizen.

      For you convenience, we offer open-entry classes and an open lab.  Registered students can use our materials and can work in our classroom during the following hours:
