Fossil Country Museum Endowment Drive

 

The museum is involved in a challenge grant program, established by the Wyoming Community Foundation and the Kresge Foundation, to help build permanent endowment asstes to provide income in perpetuity. The museum has until December 31, 2004 to raise $100,000. The Kresge Foundation will match $1 for every $3 rasied, whcih will make the total endowment amount $133,000.

 

The museum has launched this endowment drive to establish a new stable income streeam that will increase over the years to meet rising operating costs and to create security for the organization.

 

An endowment is a fund created to provide a permanent source of support to be used for philanthropic purposes. The principle of the fund is never spent; a portion of the earnings is distributed semi-annually. The rest of the interest is reinvested.
